"Belle of Cincinnati"
The Great Steamboat Race
April 2026
Join us on an
unforgettable 5-day “Lou & Linda
Adventures” bus trip to experience one of
Kentucky’s most unique traditions — The Great
Steamboat Race, held every year during Derby
Week, just before the famous Kentucky Derby!
Our journey took us down the beautiful Ohio
River, traveling from Cincinnati,
Ohio to Louisville, Kentucky aboard the
historic Belle of Cincinnati steamboat.
Along the way, we enjoyed scenic river views, relaxing
paddlewheel charm, and plenty of fun with fellow travelers.
The highlight? Watching (and riding in!) the exciting annual
race between the Belle of Cincinnati and
the legendary Belle of Louisville —
a true riverboat showdown with history, tradition, and
plenty of excitement!
The steamboat race was the main attraction, but the
adventure didn’t stop there.
Along the way, we enjoyed several memorable side trips,
including a visit to see where the famous Louisville
Slugger baseball bats are made. We also toured the
legendary Churchill Downs and spent time exploring the
fascinating Kentucky Derby Museum, learning more about the
history and tradition of the Kentucky Derby.
And on the trip home? A first for me — we stopped at a
Buc-ee's (yes, the famous giant travel stop!), making for
a memorable ending to a great trip.
