Carlisle PA

September 2007

Another photo op that Kathy happened upon while watching the local news.  As some of you probably know Kathy's maiden name is "Walsh" which is about as Irish as it gets so how could we miss this opportunity.  This was something completely different for us.  Carlisle is about an hour and a half away so Kathy brought along some CDs of Celtic music for us to listen to in the car.  Just to set the mood....

We arrived to find lots of guys wearing kilts and as I understand it the color and patterns reference certain "clans".  There were a number of clan specific tables as well as vendors selling various kinds of Celtic jewelry, books, and music.  A number of crafts were in progress such as wood working, needle point, etc.

A number of activities were in progress throughout the day.  We watched "games" the names of which escape me and all were tests of strength.  Of course there was dancing going on as well as lots of music being played.  We especially enjoyed the music and spent most of our time at the festival listening to it.

Here are some of the images we captured.....

As mentioned above we especially enjoyed listening to the music.  Here are pictures and links to three of the groups who performed.  Be sure and check their websites for schedules on where they are performing next....
