Longwood After Hours

Photography Workshop

March 2010

A couple months ago we got wind of an “After Hours” photography workshop at Longwood Gardens.  The workshop was scheduled for four consecutive Thursday evenings in March and would provide some rare time in the conservatory without the usual crowd.  The fundamental purpose for the workshop, however, was to provide a learning experience.  Each week we entered the conservatory with an assigned technique to practice as we set about capturing images.  Each participant was required to submit a couple images to the "Longwood Live" website for critique by our peers.  Needless to say, we in turn, had to critique images submitted by the other participants.  These after the session image reviews were where the real learning was taking place.

Our master photographer for this workshop is Dick Greenwood.  Dick's bio from the Longwood web site reads,

Richard Greenwood is a fine arts photographer whose repertoire spans from macro photography to landscapes.  A photographer for over 40 years, he continues to grow and explore new modes of photographic expression.  Frequently combining photography and writing assignments, his works are featured in magazines, galleries, and homes throughout the northeast.
